Jay Young, the owner and principal designer at Toulmin Cabinetry & Design and his wife, Mary Harmon Young, built this extraordinary home in the Waterfall neighborhood in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The two-story home is 4,500 square feet and includes four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms. The master bedroom suite has a large walk-in closet with a soaking tub and a separate shower. The exterior design of the home is best described as "English Tudor meets French Country".

The Open Concept Floor Plan Brings A Sense of Grandeur

The open concept living room design has engineered hardwood floors by Hallmark Flooring and a large bank of floor to ceiling windows by Sierra Pacific. The window mullions are painted in the Benjamin Moore color, Midnight Oil. The cedar beams have a clear coat of polyurethane that brings a contrasting warmth to the living spaces.

A Vast Kitchen Designed For Entertaining

The open concept kitchen has a 5-foot-by-8-foot island with a six centimeters thick Montclair Danby Margaux marble countertop and an inset sink. The kitchen is designed with semi-open breakfast nook and a doorway that leads to the back porch. The flooring throughout the first floor is Hallmark Flooring's Novella Collection engineered hardwood in Elliot. The cabinets extend to the ceiling and were provided by Shiloh Cabinetry and the chandeliers are by Gabby Lighting.

A Master Bedroom Suite With A Soaking Tub and Walk-in Shower

This master bathroom suite has a soaking tub, glass walled shower, a large vanity with dual basins and Carrera Marble throughout. The upper cabinets extend to the ceiling and have X mullion cabinet doors and the artwork for this room was cleverly placed on the oversized mirror.

The Upstairs Living Space is Casual and Comfortable

The second level of this home has a a large media room with an oversized sectional. It's ideal for watching the Crimson Tide's away games. The home also includes an office space with a wet bar and beverage center, an exercise room, a closet with a gift-wrapping area and a children’s den.
