Kitchen Trends - Cabinets, Flooring, Storage, Lighting, and More

Kitchen Design Trends

A designer inspired kitchen is often the center of today's homes.  Consequently, you want your kitchen to look its best. Even if you aren't yet ready for a complete redesign, these recent kitchen design trends will have you thinking about beauty and function.

BRIGHT WHITE CABINETS

Crisp, white cabinetry, even in traditional interiors, perhaps with a contrasting color on the island.

WOOD FLOORS IN KITCHENS

Wood floors are warmer & softer underfoot than tile.  They also seamlessly connect the kitchen to a great room and other areas of the  home.

QUARTZITE COUNTERTOPS

White or light colored natural stone quartzites are in big demand due to the fact that they are even harder than granite but have the flow and veining of marble.

SMART STORAGE

Soft close drawers & practical cabinetry features, such as platter and cookie sheet dividers, comfort height plate drawers, built in spice cabinets near cook tops, and a well-organized desk with cabinetry that conceals daily clutter.

CONTEMPORARY WOOD FRONTS

Maple, cherry, and walnut are the wood species most popular right now.  The door and drawer fronts are streamlined with no raised or beveled paneling, partnered with modern pulls for contemporary appeal.

NEUTRAL PAINTED CABINETS

While white kitchens are still really popular, painted cabinets in a gray, greige, taupe, or gray-green offer a nice change.  The slightly warmer yet neutral hues feel elegant and refined.

BUTLER'S PANTRIES

These offer a great connection point between the kitchen and dining room.  It's also the perfect spot for a wine or coffee bar, and for storing or displaying special serving pieces & place settings.

LIGHTING

No kitchen is complete until it is crowned with a beautiful light fixture.  Pendants or chandeliers  made of shimmering glass or crystal for a touch of sparkle.

TILE TO THE CEILING

Feature walls of tile that go straight up to the ceiling and/or wrap around windows.  What a statement this makes.... adding extra "wow facotr" to any kitchen.

LESS OR NO UPPER CABINETS

So many are opting out of bulky upper cabinets and instead choosing the beauty of just windows or feature tile.  What they sacrifice in storage they gain in airy aesthetic, but often this look requires architectural consideration from the beginning of a kitchen's design.

INDUCTION COOKING

Induction cooktops provide more consistent heat than gas.  This type of cooktop can boil a pot of water in 90 seconds.  Even microwaves are becoming more stylish, with discreet stainless steel fronts and control panels.

LOW DIVIDE SINKS

This is a great option for customers who want a double bowl sink.  Low divide sinks are a great option because the divider's short height allows larger items to be places in the sink with more stability.

NEW TECHNOLOGY

Steam ovens- today's consumer is more interested in a steam style of cooking, as a reflection of an overall trend toward a more efficient and healthier lifestyle.
