Lake Tuscaloosa Retreat

Crown Pointe, Lake Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Jay Young and the professionals at Toulmin provided design services for this Lake Tuscaloosa weekend retreat. The clients requested a home for entertaining extended family and friends with a refined lake house feel. Style elements such as barn doors and exposed beams seen in rustic vacation cottages bring a comfortable, timeless look to this traditional home away from home. Though Toulmin provided design services for the entire property, this page describes the design direction and materials used within the kitchen.

Lake Tuscaloosa Kitchen Design

This traditional kitchen has cabinets painted in Benjamin Moore Senora Gray 1530, open shelving to the sides of the professional Wolf range and shiplap walls constructed using eight inch poplar.  At ten feet tall including the top transoms, the windows nearly run from floor to ceiling. The hand turned leg at the countertop was provided by Art For Every Day. This kitchen also contains Sub Zero stainless steel appliances and a Kohler Whitehaven apron-front sink.

A Neutral Palette

The dining table in the foreground was sourced from Restoration Hardware, and the countertops are Silestone Lyra Quartz.

Warmth and Style

The dark stained wood flooring, beams, and barn doors contribute to the rustic look. The lighting fixtures are by Visual Comfort & Co.
