Wine Cellar Design

The Lakes North River Yacht Club

Toulmin Cabinetry & Design has built many wine cellars in West Alabama. This wine cellar was designed and built for a client who relocated from Connecticut to Tuscaloosa, AL. Highlights of this wine cellar include an arched granite tasting area, LED lighting on the bottle display shelf, arched doorway, and a cobblestone style limestone floor.

The wine racking system is from Kessick Wine Cellars and is constructed using Sapele Mahogany, which has a rich, natural color that does not require stain. Unfinished wine racks are preferred because stain, varnish, and paints that off-gas VOCs can affect the wine. The wine racks in this cellar are designed to last a lifetime in the cool, damp environment.

Through the Wall Cooling

The wine cellar cooling unit keeps the cellar at a constant 55 degrees. The unit is a through the wall model. It is maintained in an adjacent mechanical room that vents heated air to the outside of the building.

Large Format Storage

Diamond wine cubes were used to store large format, burgundy, pinot noir and champagne bottles. The same wood species was used on the walls surrounding the racking system.
