Before We Meet

Here are some suggestions to get your creative juices flowing and help you determine your must-haves:

  • Create a Houzz Ideabook or a Pinterest page and boards to collect your favorite photos. These online services are an easy way to research and gather examples of the styles and products you like and dislike. You can add notes to highlight design elements that speak to you. This helps give us a feel for your personal taste & the style of your project. Pictures will ensure that you and your designer create the room you envision.

  • Get together with your family and ask them for their input and wish lists.

  • Come up with a realistic budget. Luxury kitchen and bath design means different things to different people. It's important to know how much you want to invest so that your designer can guide you toward products that will allow you to stay within a budget. Don't know where to start? Don't worry- we have the expertise to assist you in creating your budget.

  • Review our planning questionnaires. These will guide you through the decisions you will need to make during the planning process. Click on the buttons below to download your copy.

Our Five Step Design Process

Step 1: Initial Showroom Visit

When you make an appointment to visit our showroom and meet with a designer, we will:

  • Answer any questions you may have and get to know you better,

  • Review your budget or assist you in establishing a budget,

  • Discuss your ideas and review your Houzz Ideabooks or Pinterest Boards so that we more fully understand the vision you have for your space, and

  • Review any architectural plans or other relevant documents.

Step 2: In-Home Design Consultation

If after the initial showroom visit you feel we are a good fit for your project, we will schedule an in-home design consultation.  This meeting is an opportunity for you to ask our design team questions and express your expectations in greater detail.  At this meeting, our design team will:

  • Visit your home to further discuss your project, including ideas we have for your space,

  • Document your existing space by measuring and taking photos, and

  • Gather the necessary information to create a scope of work & preliminary design concept

There is a consultation fee to cover the time and travel of the designers to visit your home and develop a preliminary space plan. This fee is $300 for the Tuscaloosa/Northport area and $500 for projects greater than 25 miles from our showroom.

Step 3: Preliminary Review Meeting

Approximately 2 weeks after your in-home design consultation, we will have a meeting at our showroom to discuss the following:

  • Preliminary space plan drawings and preliminary material selections,

  • The scope of work for your project, and

  • Preliminary project pricing & budgets.

Step 4: Design & Selection Phase

Once you decide to move forward with your project, we require a design retainer, which covers the following:

  • Revisions to the design, including final material selections,

  • Development of construction drawings, and

  • Creation of formal proposal & acceptance.

The design retainer amount ranges from $1,500 - $3,000 based on the size & scope of your project.  This retainer is used as a credit toward the final payment of your project.

Step 5: Construction & Installation Phase

When work is ready to begin, we will:

  • Arrange the removal of existing cabinetry, appliances and perform any demolition, if necessary,

  • Make arrangements with your builder, architect, or designer to coordinate installation, and

  • Provide project management services to ensure that everything runs smoothly and on-schedule.
